From Serge:
There
are a few things that should not be missed:
- Jaffa - the old port city - it is exquisite!
- Rosh Hanikra
- The Mitzpe Ramon Crater
- Masada
- Eilat
- The most amazing surprise for me was the backroad drive to Masada (Road #3199) out of Arad. It does not lead you anywhere perse, aside from the back entrance to Masada. But what a beautiful drive on a newly paved road. The desert scenery is exquisite!
Overrated:
- The big cities: Jerusalem, Tel Aviv and Haifa. They are beautiful and now-modern cities, but the traffic and congestion is not for me. Should they be visited? Of course; just prepare yourself for Toronto-like busy-ness :-(
